Overview

The Regional Manager, Warehouse Operations is responsible for leading and optimizing warehouse operations across 11 North American based locations (7 plants and 4 warehouses (3 ancillary, 1 3PL)) that support manufacturing and fulfillment activities throughout the Americas. This role is accountable for driving operational excellence, inventory integrity, team performance, and customer satisfaction. The ideal candidate will be a strategic and hands-on leader with deep experience in multi-site warehouse management, inventory control, and continuous improvement. Strong data analysis and reporting capabilities are essential to monitor performance, identify trends, and drive improvement initiatives across all sites.

Warehouse & Distribution Operations
  • Multi-site Oversight: Lead daily operations across warehouse sites, ensuring safety, accuracy, and efficiency in receiving, picking, packing, shipping, and truck loading.

  • Process Standardization: Drive consistency and scalability by implementing standardized procedures across all locations.

  • Facility Support: Oversee warehouse MRO procurement, forklift maintenance, consumables spend, and facility upgrades (racking, doors, security, etc.).

  • Collaboration: Coordinate with Logistics groups and other departments (Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, Procurement, HR) to facilitate efficient warehouse operations.

  • Bulk Product Storage: Familiar with managing large bulk rolled items including storage, picking, and loading. Rolls (geosynthetics) can be up to 18 feet long, 30+ inches in diameter, and weigh over 4000 lbs.

  • Trailer Cube Utilization: Ensure data integrity around product loadability tables (rolls per TL, rolls per tier, # of rows, etc) to ensure efficient trailer cube utilization and accurate calculation of TL requirements during order quoting phase.

Inventory and Space Management
  • Inventory Reduction: Reduce aged and obsolete inventory through proactive planning and collaboration.

  • Cycle Count Accuracy: Implement robust cycle count programs and reconciliation processes to improve inventory integrity.

  • Space Optimization: Maximize material flow and space utilization to support manufacturing and fulfillment efficiency.

  • System Utilization: Leverage WMS and ERP systems for bin consolidation, FIFO compliance, pick route optimization, and velocity-based picking.

Performance & Process Improvement
  • KPI Monitoring: Establish and track key performance indicators (e.g., order accuracy, inventory turns and accuracy, productivity (pick and putaway), FIFO, expense management, safety, and workforce management).

  • Lean Initiatives: Identify and execute lean and Six Sigma projects to reduce waste and improve throughput.

  • Cross-Functional Alignment: Collaborate with Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Sales, and Customer Service to align operations with business goals.

Leadership & Team Development
  • Team Coaching: Lead, mentor, and develop warehouse managers and their teams to foster engagement and accountability.

  • Retention Strategies: Address staffing challenges through proactive workforce planning and employee development.

  • Staffing: Determine staffing requirements, conducts performance reviews, and monitors attendance to ensure functional requirements are met and attendance policy is followed. Prepare and conduct performances of associates.

  • Culture Building: Promote a culture of safety, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.

  • Succession Planning: Build talent pipelines and prepare teams for future leadership roles.

  • Initiatives: Serve as a key member of the logistics leadership team, contributing to strategic initiatives and leading process improvement efforts.

Contracts and Budgeting
  • Contract Management: Advise and assist procurement in negotiating contracts related to forklifts and maintenance, 3rd party warehousing, warehouse consumables, temp labor, etc.

  • Warehouse Budgeting: Develop and support annual budgeting as it relates to staffing, capital improvements (material handling equipment, racking, security cameras, building maintenance, etc.), technical improvements (software, scanning devices, etc.), 3rd party warehousing needs, and general costs.

Systems, Data Analysis & Reporting
  • ERP/WMS Expertise: Configure and optimize ERP-based WMS platforms (AS400, SAP, D365) to support operational improvements. Experience in use and configuration of RF scanners to support warehouse operations.

  • RF Scanning/RFID: In-depth understanding of RF scanning and RFID capabilities with experience implementing, configuring, and integrating with ERP and WMS is major plus.

  • Forklift Monitoring: Oversee and monitor forklift safety monitoring solutions (i.e Sapphire) to track driver and equipment safety concerns.

  • Data-Driven Decisions: Use MS Power BI and other tools to analyze trends, identify root causes, and drive performance improvements.

  • Dashboard Development: Create reporting frameworks and dashboards to monitor KPIs and support continuous improvement.

  • System Integration: Ensure seamless integration between WMS, ERP, TMS and other supply chain systems.

Safety & Compliance
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to OSHA and internal safety and quality standards.

  • Risk Mitigation: Identify and address operational risks, including safety incidents and compliance violations.

  • Health and Safety Systems: Manage health, safety and quality control systems to track incidents, compliance, and issue resolution within the warehouse operations.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Experience: 12+ years in warehouse, inventory, and distribution management, including multi-site leadership and team management. REQUIRED

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations Management, Engineering, or related field.

  • Leadership: Proven success in improving team performance, retention, and operational outcomes. Strong initiative, decisiveness, and problem-solving skills. Ability to be flexible in a rapidly changing environment.

  • Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of WMS/ERP (AS400, SAP, and Microsoft D365) systems, RF scanning/RFID, and data maintenance. Advanced knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and pivot tables.

  • Analytical Skills: Advanced data analysis and reporting capabilities, including Power BI or similar tools.

  • Certifications: Lean / Six Sigma certification preferred.

  • Travel: Ability to travel 30-40% to regional sites.
