Job type:
Professional/office
Location:
United States
Work location:

Term:
Full-time
Overview:
We’re looking for a Geosynthetics Application Engineer who’s passionate about advancing the use of geosynthetics in transportation infrastructure. In this role, you’ll work on advanced modeling and practical design—using tools like finite element analysis, geotechnical and hydraulic modeling, and pavement design methods. Your work will support roads, airfields, and a variety of other critical transportation systems, helping to develop and validate solutions that improve performance and durability. If you enjoy combining research with applied engineering to deliver real-world impact, this could be the perfect fit.
Responsibilities:
Lead modeling and analysis of pavement systems incorporating geosynthetics.
Develop and run numerical models using software such as ABAQUS, PLAXIS, GeoStudio, or equivalent tools.
Perform hydraulic and mechanical simulations to assess geosynthetic performance under varying traffic and climate conditions.
Convert simulation results into practical design recommendations using mechanistic-empirical frameworks.
Collaborate with engineers, sales, and product teams to align technical findings with project goals and client needs.
Support field and lab testing (e.g., plate load tests, triaxial testing, instrumentation analysis, etc.) and integrate results into models.
Qualifications and Skills:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or related fields. PhD in Geotechnical or Pavement
Engineering with emphasis on modeling or materials preferred.
5+ years of proven experience in advanced numerical modeling of geotechnical/pavement systems.
Education may be considered in lieu of experience.
Strong proficiency with FEA software (e.g., ABAQUS, PLAXIS, GeoStudio, or similar).
Knowledge of pavement design methods (flexible and rigid pavements for highways, airfields, etc.).
