Position overview
Solmax is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Plant Manager to lead the production and manufacturing operations for our Nonwoven and Woven products at our Ringgold, GA facility. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership abilities, possess a robust background in industrial engineering and maintenance, and be committed to operational excellence and continuous improvement. The Plant Manager will be responsible for driving the plant to achieve key performance indicators (KPIs) as outlined in our core metrics.
Key responsibilities
Oversee Production: Plan, coordinate, and manage the production of finished goods, ensuring efficient use of resources and adherence to quality standards.
Operational Excellence: Develop and implement plans, schedules, and standard operating procedures to optimize production costs, product quality, plant safety, and inventory control. The idea candidate will have a strong commitment to implementing a new culture focused around Continuous improvement, Downtime reduction, KPI improvement, and sense of urgency to improve plant performance. Data analytics and financials should play a large part in driving the activity of the facility and decision making
Project Management: Utilize the 3 P’s concept in the management of projects and lead major projects aimed at improving plant operations, including the enhancement of predictive maintenance strategies. Ensure compliance with strategic project management procedures.
Budgeting and Investment: Oversee plant budgeting, staffing, facilities, and capital investments, ensuring continuous improvements and efficient use of resources.
Reporting & Accountability: Prepare timely production and budget reports, ensuring operations meet specified targets and KPI goals.
Safety and Compliance: Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, ISO processes, and environmental standards.
Strategic Planning: Provide input and guidance for future plans and growth. Participate in key strategic meetings and maintain involvement in the development and execution of strategic plans.
Customer & Vendor Interaction: Interact with customers, vendors, and various departments within the organization to ensure policy compliance and profitable growth. Provide technical assistance to internal and external customers, distributors, and sales.
Qualifications and skills
Strong understanding of safety compliance, policy administration, and environmental compliance processes and procedures.
Expertise in Lean Manufacturing tools and ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management Systems and ISO 14001:2015
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and SAP.
Familiarity with Industry 4.0 concepts.
Education: University degree desired.
15 years in manufacturing, engineering, or industrial maintenance.
5 years in a plant management or director-level role overseeing operations, engineering, or maintenance.
Experience in the plastics industry (fiber extrusion, nonwoven) is a plus.
