Position overview

The logistics manager has an important role for the local operations management and reports to the Logistics Manager EMEA. The role owner has also an indirect reporting line to the plant manager and contributes to local quality, safety and performance optimizations. The logistics manager is responsible for general supervision of all phases of the local logistics operations. This spans from inbound logistics via warehousing, production supplies, outbound logistics to the shipping processes. The logistics manager manages the warehouse and shipping team and is accountable for safety in the area of responsibility. Furthermore, the role owner is responsible to realize global and regional policies, procedures and standards locally. The logistics manager ensures high efficiency in terms of costs and quality of logistics operations.

Key responsibilities

  • Manages all local logistics processes from raw material inbound to final shipment to the customer. This includes inbound logistics, warehousing of raw, semi-finished, finished and recycling materials, packaging of different materials, production logistics and outbound logistics. Manages, leads and develops the local logistics team

  • Ensures steady material flows across the plant and from/to the external warehouses in an efficient way. Collaborates with internal departments (customer experience, production, finance, …) and external partners (forwarders, warehouse operators, …)

  • Is accountable for inventory accuracy, warehouse throughput, order accuracy, space efficiency, storage quality. Participates in logistics service provider development, such as selection, qualification, performance evaluation and contracting

  • Ensure and continuously improve occupational health and safety in the area of responsibility. Contributes to and realizes continuous improvement of logistics processes

  • Drives digitalization and automation of workflows within logistics. Creates and provides reports and performance indicators in alignment with EMEA logistics reporting standards

  • Contributes to yearly stock counting and execute stock controls during the year on demand.

  • Identifies potential physical stock shortage, propose measurements and act proactively. Coordinates supply of by-products with recycling partners and different types of waste with waste recyclers

  • Is responsible for keeping the equipment in well maintained and safe conditions

Qualifications and skills

  • Lives in the Netherlands, near Hengelo (Overijssel)

  • Completed apprenticeship or vocational education, preferrable in supply chain/logistics/operations

  • 5+ years of experience in producing environment in logistics, supply chain or operations.

  • A comprehensive understanding of supply chain processes, including warehousing, inventory control, shipping and operations, and safety policies, is essential for a logistics manager. Commercial or technical education is required, with an education in export and customs.

  • SAP: knowledge of logistics and inventory functionalities.

  • Languages: fluent in the local site language and advanced in English

  • Leadership skills: Can motivate and influence others to work together effectively. Gives clear direction and sets goals for the team. Organizational skills: Ensure the smooth running of all logistics activities. Problem Solving Skills: Unexpected problems can arise in logistics operations. A logistics manager can quickly identify and analyze problems, report them and/or find solutions to minimize disruptions or bottlenecks.
