Overview

The Truck Driver is responsible for the safe and responsible operation of company tractor-trailers with a gross vehicle weight over 26,000 pounds. The role ensures accurate delivery of materials, adherence to DOT and company safety standards, and proper documentation and handling of all transported goods.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate company tractor-trailers over 26,000 lbs GVW in a responsible manner.

  • Drive in compliance with FMCSA and US DOT regulations.

  • Maintain all required records accurately with strong communication skills.

  • Load resin at rail sites and unload at the plant.

  • Ensure orders are shipped and delivered on time.

  • Follow all company policies, safety standards, and housekeeping practices.

  • Make safety a priority at all times.

  • Load and unload trailers while ensuring contents remain properly secured.

  • Use the RF Scanner as required.

  • Use the Electronic Logging Device (ELD) to maintain driving and delivery logs.

  • Perform routine service needs (refueling, tire pressure, repairs, etc.).

  • Notify the manager of any major maintenance or delivery issues.

  • Follow all applicable traffic laws and adjust driving for weather and road conditions.

  • Lift up to 50 lbs as necessary.

  • Pass drug tests and background checks.

  • Perform other duties as needed.

Qualifications and Skills

  • High School Diploma required.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience.

  • Ability to work in a truck/warehouse environment and lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts.

  • Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).

  • Good motor vehicle record with no moving violations.

  • Basic mechanical aptitude.

  • Ability to operate electric lifts, pallet jacks, band trucks, and similar equipment.

  • Strong teamwork skills when working with other drivers and warehouse personnel.

  • Effective communication skills with plant/warehouse personnel and customers.

  • Strong understanding of DOT regulations, company safety policies, and ELD requirements.
