Job Overview:
The EHS Manager / Compliance Specialist is responsible for leading all aspects of health, safety, and environmental management within the Cornelia facility. This role ensures full compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, drives a proactive safety culture, supports front-line accountability, and partners closely with plant leadership to reduce risk, improve operational performance, and maintain a safe and compliant work environment.
Key Responsibilities
Lead all HSE programs, policies, and requirements for the Cornelia facility- ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, state regulations, Solmax policies, and industry best practices, maintain all required permits, plans, procedures, and documentation.
Serve as the primary contact for regulatory agencies during inspections, audits, and inquiries.
Drive a strong, proactive safety culture focused on accountability and continuous improvement.
Coach and support front-line leaders to ensure safety ownership at the supervisor and operator level.
Facilitate safety committees, BBS programs, and employee engagement initiatives.
Champion hazard recognition, risk reduction, and safe work behaviors.
Develop, schedule, and deliver required safety and environmental training for all employees.
Partner with HR and Plant Leadership to support onboarding safety requirements.
Lead investigations for injuries, near misses, and environmental incidents to determine root causes.
Analyze trends and implement proactive steps to reduce risks and prevent reoccurrence.
Maintain and update facility safety programs, SOPs, and environmental plans.
Manage OSHA logs, environmental reports, recordkeeping, and metrics.
Ensure proper waste handling, labeling, storage, and vendor management in line with regulatory requirements.
Conduct internal audits to verify ongoing compliance with regulations and Solmax standards.
Maintain and improve site emergency response plans and procedures.
Lead drills, emergency response training, and coordination with local resources.
Ensure proper functioning of alarms, extinguishers, spill kits, and emergency equipment.
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Management, Engineering, or related field preferred.
5+ years of HSE experience in a manufacturing environment required.
Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT, and state regulatory requirements.
Experience managing compliance programs, audits, and regulatory inspections.
