Stabilization and moisture control in a single layer
MIRAFI H2Rx is a high-performance moisture wicking geotextile designed specifically for road pavements and railway structures. It uses super high-tenacity polypropylene yarns to deliver a high biaxial tensile modulus at 2% strain, providing mechanical restraint in both directions.
At the same time, its proprietary capillary wicking technology draws and redirects moisture across the plane of the geotextile, rapidly draining excess water and equalizing moisture content within the subgrade. This combination reduces deformation, improves stiffness, and limits water-induced pavement distress.
Advanced wicking action
MIRAFI H2Rx’s patented wicking loops enhance in-plane drainage by actively drawing and redistributing excess moisture, even in partially saturated soils. It intercepts water before it can pool in subgrade depressions or form ice lenses during freezing conditions. The result is a dramatic reduction in potholes, frost boils, and pavement cracking.
Superior performance in expansive soils
Expansive clay subgrades swell with moisture and shrink when dry, leading to edge heaving, reflective cracking, and surface undulation. MIRAFI H2Rx addresses this by equalizing subgrade moisture during both wet and dry seasons, reducing differential heave and shrinkage. It also provides lateral tensile restraint, limiting surface cracking and maintaining pavement alignment.
Fast recovery after rainfall
Following rain, MIRAFI H2Rx rapidly removes excess water from the road base, restoring resilient modulus and preventing moisture accumulation that weakens pavements. Its integrated drainage function allows for faster road recovery and reduced post-rain maintenance.
