Overview
The Export Specialist (m/f/d) is responsible for the smooth handling of domestic and international freight and export processes. This includes organising domestic transport, coordinating international exports, preparing and checking shipping and export documents, and ensuring compliance with all customs and foreign trade regulations. Working closely with internal departments and external partners, the role plays a key part in ensuring on-time, cost-effective and compliant delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Handling and coordinating international export processes in compliance with all legal and customs regulations as well as preparing, checking and managing export documents (e.g. commercial invoices, delivery notes, certificates of origin, export declarations)
Ensuring export compliance in accordance with national and international regulations (e.g. foreign trade law, sanctions, embargoes)
Communication and coordination with internal departments (sales, logistics, production) and external partners (freight forwarders, customs authorities, customers)
Monitoring delivery dates and ensuring timely export; maintaining export-related master data in ERP and customs systems
Organising and coordinating domestic transport (e.g. ex works, warehousing, pre- and post-carriage); commissioning and managing national freight forwarders and carriers as well as monitoring transport costs, checking and approving freight invoices (domestic & export) and maintaining supplier data
Ensuring compliance with delivery dates, quality and safety requirements, resolving transport discrepancies, complaints and claims; optimising national transport processes in terms of costs, efficiency and service levels
Planning and carrying out regular stock checks and the year-end inventory for finished goods
Providing basic data for statistics, managing freight forwarder evaluations and preparing a monthly report on dispatch volumes; ordering loading equipment in consultation with the loading staff
Qualifications and Skills
Completed commercial apprenticeship or degree in logistics, international trade, freight forwarding, business administration or a comparable field
Several years' professional experience in the export and/or domestic logistics sector and in-depth knowledge of customs, export and transport law
Experience in managing domestic and international freight processes
Proficiency in using ERP systems and, ideally, transport and customs systems
Excellent written and spoken German and English
A structured, meticulous and solution-oriented approach to work
Strong communication skills and the ability to assert oneself with internal and external partners
Organisational skills and resilience, the ability to work well in a team as well as independently
