Solmax has begun construction of its flagship European geosynthetics manufacturing site in Les Mureaux, near Paris, marking a significant step in the company’s long-term investment in Europe.
The eight-hectare site will bring together Solmax’s European nonwoven geotextile operations into a single, modernized facility, designed to support the full breadth of geosynthetic applications — from major infrastructure projects to landscaping and agricultural uses. Once operational, the Les Mureaux center will serve as Solmax’s European center of excellence for geosynthetics manufacturing.
Purpose-built to integrate advanced manufacturing lines with laboratory, sales, and marketing functions, the site will foster close collaboration across teams and strengthen technical exchange. By consolidating expertise and capabilities under one roof, Solmax aims to accelerate innovation, enhance customer support, and deliver more responsive, solution-driven service to the European market.
The facility itself will also function as a real-world demonstration of geosynthetic engineering. Solmax solutions will be incorporated throughout the site’s construction and infrastructure, illustrating how geosynthetics reinforce, stabilize, filter, and protect civil works in practice.
Production currently based in Linz, Austria, and Bezons, France will be integrated into Les Mureaux, creating a more efficient manufacturing environment while preserving Solmax’s deep technical heritage and regional know-how. The location was selected for its strong industrial base, excellent logistics connectivity, and position within the Île-de-France industrial ecosystem.
“Les Mureaux represents the next chapter in Solmax’s European manufacturing journey,” said Bob Gilligan, President and CEO of Solmax. “By combining decades of expertise with state-of-the-art production capabilities, this site will strengthen our ability to deliver high-performance geosynthetic solutions and support resilient infrastructure across Europe and beyond.”
The Les Mureaux manufacturing center is scheduled to become operational the end of the year and will stand among the most advanced geosynthetics production facilities in Europe, reinforcing Solmax’s commitment to innovation, operational excellence, and long-term growth in the region.
