Position overview

The administration, implementation, and enforcement of the plant environmental, health, and safety policies to ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations and to meet or exceed established goals. This position typically has no direct supervision responsibilities, but will give direction to others in ensuring compliance with all local, state and federal regulations.

Key responsibilities

  • Establish and articulate the HSE vision for the plant in collaboration with the Regional HSE Manager.

  • Develop and enforce Plant Safety practices to cultivate a secure working environment.

  • Ensure Plant Environmental practices compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.

  • Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and closure of corrective actions.

  • Manage Worker’s Compensation claims, minimizing costs and fraud while preventing reoccurrence.

  • Accompany and occasionally attend initial and follow-up physician visits with employees.

  • Promote safety awareness and provide assistance in safety and technical training.

  • Chair the plant’s Safety Committee, focusing on incident prevention and safety awareness.

Qualifications and skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Safety Engineering, or related field; substantial work experience may substitute for education.

  • 5-8 years of HSE experience, preferably in manufacturing.

  • Proficiency in implementing Behavior Based Safety Programs.

  • Expertise in managing workers' compensation claims, analysis, and cost reduction.

  • Required certifications: First Aid, CPR; EMT certification is advantageous.

  • Experience developing and administering Safety & Health programs, conducting Industrial Hygiene sampling.

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams).

  • Proven track record in successful project management, team leadership, problem-solving, and effective communication with stakeholders.
